I love being caught up with editing because it means I can start editing new weddings immediately!! Macy and Daryous were married last Saturday at St. Martin De Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. Their reception followed at River Oaks Catering in Lafayette.
This was the first wedding that my husband, Steven, has photographed with me since becoming a full time partner in our photography business 2 months ago. He’s photographed weddings with me in the past, but none in the last year and wanted a refresher course! We loved getting to work together the whole day and looking forward to many more weddings this year.
Macy and Daryous are the most adorable couple. From the first phone conversation I had with them it was obvious that they were planning this wedding as a team. Daryous is a police officer and Macy is in nursing school! These two are incredibly hard working and I admire them both. I’ve been especially excited about this wedding since photographing their engagements. Even though they have been together since 2007 it’s so easy to see the love they share. Daryous literally lights up whenever he looks at Macy!
Their wedding day was exactly the way they wanted it to be and everything went smoothly. It started raining about an 2 hours before the wedding so I was thankful that Macy’s home had a beautiful porch! We were able to photograph their bridesmaid photos there and thankfully it stopped before the wedding began! Macy and Daryous made time for portraits of just the two of them and I’m in love with how these turned out! Carving out just 15 minutes for couple portrait time can make such a huge difference on your wedding day. One of my favorite moments was during their first dance at the reception. Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” started playing and their guests cheered and hollered. Macy’s infectious smile which had been on her face all day was replaced by emotional tears. I cried right along with her. What a special couple and a special day. Congratulations, Macy + Daryous!!
